Unenhanced 3D Ghost MR Angiography by Toggled Systolic and Diastolic Imaging

چکیده
Introduction: Ghost magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) is a new method for angiography that suppresses background tissue without subtraction. The method is predicated on the creation of arterial ghost artifacts within a region containing no MR signal (e.g. air), and can be used for both unenhanced and contrast-enhanced MRA. When used for unenhanced MRA, cardiac gating is not required. This can be a substantial advantage compared with previously reported unenhanced MRA methods. However, it is not possible to rotate the ungated MRA from the orientation in which it was acquired. We report an alternative, ECG-gated approach for ghost MRA that enables the creation of multiple projections and also reduces scan time. We tested the hypothesis that, as a result of better suppression of background signal intensity, gated Ghost MRA improves vessel conspicuity compared with a conventional subtraction-based unenhanced MRA method.

Head and neck paragangliomas: improved tumor detection using contrast-enhanced 3D time-of-flight MR angiography as compared with fat-suppressed MR imaging techniques.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE MR imaging techniques have proved their efficacy in imaging the head and neck region. In this study, we compared T1-weighted, dual T2-weighted, and fat-suppressed MR imaging and unenhanced and contrast-enhanced 3D time-of-flight MR angiography sequences for detection of head and neck paragangliomas. METHODS Thirty-one patients with 70 paragangliomas were examined. Four ...

Peripheral vascular disease (PVD) has an age-adjusted prevalence of 12% in the United States, causes significant morbidity and is associated with excess cardiovascular mortality. Contrastenhanced magnetic resonance angiography (CE-MRA) often substitutes for the more invasive ―gold standard‖ procedure of digital subtraction angiography (DSA). Given the frequency of renal functional impairment in...
متن کاملEvaluation of Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: Comparison of Unenhanced 3T 3D Time-of-flight MR Angiography with Digital Subtraction Angiography.
PURPOSE We compared gross characterization of intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) between unenhanced 3-tesla 3-dimensional (3D) time-of-flight (TOF) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA). METHODS We subjected 26 consecutive patients with intracranial DAVF to unenhanced 3T 3D TOF MRA and to DSA. Two independent sets of observers inspected ...
متن کاملThe Essence of Half-FOV Shift Ghost Imaging
Introduction: Ghost imaging and especially its applications to MR angiography (MRA) have been proposed as an improvement over the conventional magnitude subtraction based imaging methods, such as Fresh Blood Imaging (FBI) [1]. There are basically two types of ghost MRA; type I and II. Type I is usually performed without gating, by summing outside the body ghost artifacts created from uncontroll...
متن کاملAnalysis of left ventricular volumes and function: a multicenter comparison of cardiac magnetic resonance imaging, cine ventriculography, and unenhanced and contrast-enhanced two-dimensional and three-dimensional echocardiography.
BACKGROUND Contrast echocardiography improves accuracy and reduces interreader variability on left ventricular (LV) functional analyses in the setting of two-dimensional (2D) echocardiography. The need for contrast imaging using three-dimensional (3D) echocardiography is less defined. The aim of this multicenter study was to define the accuracy and interreader agreement of unenhanced and contra...
